There’s one thing that I always find interesting to think about, and that’s comparing offline big business to the online small business (Internet marketing), and how we as Internet marketers can incorporate offline big business ideas online.
One important area that any business needs to focus on is promotion/advertising, how to get the word out about your product or service. There are countless ways to do this, but one method I have thought about in the past was about the professional singer/rock star music CD’s and world tour concerts aspect of offline business.
We all know that rock stars can make millions off of their music CDs and their concerts, so how can we use similar principals to get our message out there like they do? Sure, we can go out and purchase a lot of offline advertising and spend millions of dollars… but how can we do similar things and keep it all online?
What I wanted to touch on in this blog post was the idea of going out there online and doing a world tour to promote ourselves and our business, like a blog word tour.
- How much exposure do you think we could get if we started showing up on all kinds of different web sites within our niche, sites where we normally wouldn’t have been seen?
- What if we spent a few months going from one site to another doing “concerts” like the professional musicians do?
Offline concerts help to expand and grow the audience of musicians, to reach out to more people and spread their product. Why can’t we do that online?
We can, and my friend Nicole Dean has just done that this past summer. She visited several different blogs within her niche and provided quality content to them, and the result of that was even better than she had expected.
You can see for yourself what Nicole did on her blog world tour, it was great to watch and see the following of people she had.
Consider going on your own blog word tour and see how much success you can get from it! Go here to learn all about it.

This is an online marketing blog dedicated to bringing you quality information that you can use to boost your profits and make the most out of your Internet business.
I noted Nicole when she sat in for Mike Paetzold last summer, and wasn’t really sure what the idea was all about, but now reading her sales page and can see how it could be a great way to build your list and reputation.
Thanks for sharing this one Joel.

Nicole really did an excellent job on her blog tour and who wouldn’t want to duplicate that feat. And to have her put it all down in print just makes you want to know how more. This will be a great read. Thanks for sharing the information.

Nicole visited one of my blogs during her tour and it added traffic for both of us. Something I am putting together right now is my own tour.

I did see Nicole’s sales page a while ago and I felt, as I’m still trying to drive some initial traffic to my blog, that I’m not ready yet for doing a blog tour myself. reading your post I got intrigued again, so i will go back and have another deeper look into it.

Great post, Joel – and you’re right, Nicole did a great job of her blog tour this summer!
For those not yet ready to do a full bog tour, or too new to the biz to write that much content, an easy way to start is to do a ‘blog comment tour’, visiting all the main blogs in their niche and offering insightful comments on the information provided in the post they find there. Not only will they get their name and link out there and gain both Branding and traffic benefits, but they’re sure to learn a lot from the post they’re reading too!

Joel, good post. I follow Nicole Dean’s blog tour that she did on 4.Mike Paetzold’s blog. It was very interesting and very informative. I am not sure that I am ready for a blog tour yet. I know that Mike is starting one of his own and I will follow that and see how it goes. I will look at the resource you mentioned and who knows what the future holds.

Getting all jazzed about this. I had not realized that there was a blog tour before Mike Paetzold’s. Mike will be guest blogger in residence at mine next week.
Doug, I like your idea about going on a commenter tour – that is about my speed at the moment and what a great idea!
Wishing everyone an awesome 2010 and beyond.
