It is now officially the year of this blog… the year 2010
I have waited nearly six years to say that, ever since I bought this domain name. So I guess I should make this year the best yet for this blog. Let’s start it off with 4 ways that you can make more money online in 2010.
I am often amazed at all of the money making opportunities around us online, there really is many more than any one person could implement. The problem comes when you are starting on a new project only to learn about an interesting new tactic that you want to try out. You have to be careful to plan out your attack and stay focused… or else you will never get anything done.
With that said, the below money making ideas for 2010 should only be used when you are NOT working on another project. Take action… but be focused and complete a project before starting another one.
#1. Sell your services online.
This is probably the easiest way to make money online as it uses your existing talents and allows you to work only when you are sure you will get paid for it. You don’t have to write an ebook or spend time creating a web site… all you have to do is tell people about what you offer and complete the work once someone commits to hiring you.
Here are a few services which you might be able to provide;
- Writing articles or ebooks,
- Market research for niche keywords,
- Creating graphics for web sites,
- Link building,
- Social/Web2.0 marketing,
- Copywriting,
- Programming,
- Web site creation.
All of those (plus more) are a great way to get started making some money online.
#2. Create niche web sites.
This method to make money is also fairly easy to do and it can be done for very little money, just a few bucks.
Set up a web site which contains great content about a particular topic, something interesting and something which people are looking for information about. You will have to do some niche keyword research and write some articles, but for the most part once the initial work is done you don’t have to do too much with it any more. Place ads on your site for related products or services, or use Google AdSense to bring you in some extra money.
The real power in this method is to create multiple web sites which all do the same thing, all targeting different keywords and all receiving some traffic every day. Individually they probably won’t make you rich, but with 10, 20, 50, or 100 sites, that’s where the magic happens.
#3.Create your own product line.
If you really want to take your business to new heights in 2010, start creating your own products to sell online. By doing this you will be able to leverage so much more, it really does take you to a new level.
- Go into a popular market,
- Find a niche within that market that is looking for an answer to a question,
- Research the answer and create a product,
- Deliver that product to sell to make money!
There is so much more that I could write about this method, books have been written about the individual steps, but I will try to go into a bit more detail in the future.
#4. Build your list!
This is probably the single most important thing that you can do for your business in 2010. If you are not doing it yet… DON’T WAIT any longer!
Your email list allows you to do so much more and gives you so much more freedom, as you can be anywhere and still make money with it. In any market, the easier and faster you can communicate with your audience, the more chances you have to making more sales… and a list can do that.
**** Over the next little while I will go into more detail about these topics to help you get a better understanding about how to do each one. Bookmark or subscribe to the RSS feed to be updated when I post new content to this blog.
I wish you all the success in 2010… just don’t forget to take action and set out a plan to make 2010 the best year yet for you!

This is an online marketing blog dedicated to bringing you quality information that you can use to boost your profits and make the most out of your Internet business.

Congratulations on getting to 2010. Is that what we call foresight, or just a lot of hard work?
Focus… that is a real easy one to lose. I myself, have scheduled in a period of time each week, where I allow myself to lose focus. When I come across something that interests me, instead of digging deeper I just bookmark it, and put it into a folder called websites of interest.

Well a great big Happy New Year back at you.
Love the article and you have listed some great ways to make money but the key as with most things is taking the actions and keeping your focus.

Congratulations on parking that domain as well as Happy New Year!
Those are great ideas on driving traffic to websites and building lead lists. There is one thing that seemed to be missing–especially from my perspective. You’ve spent $$’s building a website and you spend $$’s driving traffic to it–then you cross your fingers that your website visitor will take the next step with either a purchase or inquire about your product or service. Why not enhance your odds by engaging the visitor in real time with Live Chat. Here’s a great article: http://www.internetretailing.net/2009/12/86-of-consumers-say-live-help-would-be-useful-when-shopping-online/. Plus you add real time visitor tracking and you can determine what is working and what is not working when it comes to how those visitors have found you online. Just an idea. I’m sorry, but what you’re all calling “niche marketing” is more commonly referred to as spam. One person is supposed to create 10, 20, 50, 100 sites? Then what? Never maintain them?
You’re basically saying: Google some keywords on a particular topic, copy and paste that information into Wordpress entries, place a Google AdSense script on it, and then sit back and watch unsuspecting people use the very service you used to find the same information you found and make money from them. Brilliant. While you’re at it, move to Nigeria and pretend to be a very important person, perhaps a king even. Then all you have to do is start emailing people for money. Easy. as. pie.
Hi Shawn, thank you for stopping by my blog. I think I need to clarify my post a little bit, as I am against all kinds of spam and I would never tell anyone to do that.
First let me make clear that this post is not meant to cover all aspects of all of the methods I talked about, it was just a very quick overview of it and “over the next little while I will go into more detail about these topics”.
What I meant by method #2 is to create simple content web sites which target a specific topic/keyword. I did not say anything about copying text from another source and using that as content. What I meant was to research good keywords to write new content about, using tools like Google’s Keyword Tool and then “write some articles” about those keywords.
I see nothing wrong with finding keywords that people are using to look for information on, then writing your own content about those topics.
Since a single web site like that will probably not bring in a lot of money, I simply suggested to make more similar web sites “all targeting different keywords”… ie: NOT the same content on all of them. What’s wrong with making many different web sites which all contain good content that people are looking for, then placing ads on them to help make some money?
I hope I helped to clarify what I meant. In a future post I will try to go into more detail about it.
Note: I understand that not everyone is familiar with how online marketing works and the tools and jargon which is used. Because of that I can understand that there might be some misunderstandings.
Hey Joel,
Great post and a Happy New Year to you as well. I did not see anywhere in your post that there was any intent or mention of spam. If anything I think you gave some good ways for someone, if they were interested, to take action and possibly build a business or at the least make some money. By you setting up your websites you are giving any individual the opportunity to come by and visit the site.
If they feel that it is something they might be interested in they may return or even spread the word about whether it is any good or not. I do not understand what Shawn was upset about. Maybe he will respond and let us all know as I did not get his point.
All of the points you mentioned were well placed opportunities that anyone would want to think about as they do hold the key for making money online. Keep up the good posts.

My biggest gripe is with the amount of websites you suggested persons to create. Even having 10 websites would be very hard to keep updated, monitored, and maintained. Any more, and you’re Wikipedia. Anyways, I appreciate that you approved my comment and took the time to explain your side.
Thank you Shawn for visiting back.
A content web site really doesn’t need to be looked after all that often. Depending on the topic, maybe just 1 or 2 new articles to it every month would be enough, which means that you can easily have many web sites.
I did say 50 or even 100 web sites, but when you have that many you are probably looking at hiring someone to help you with them. So either way it is a very do-able method to make some money.
I will try to explain in more detail later on about why you might want more than 10 content web sites.
Joel,
A great list for a good start to an online business. Reminds me of something that I just heard the other day that I am going to start using in my business:
“Brave acts of Awesomeness in the face of Regularity”
In other words, just take action and you won’t be considered mediocre.
Thanks for your help in 2009 and I look forward to 2010 and beyond!

I couldn’t agree with you more Joel, that is the cornerstone to our businesses. We always have to stay on top of it, be willing to adapt to the times and market and launch new products, find new joint venture partners, build our list in the process and use that as leverage to expand our reach.

Joel, Happy New Years, a Day late. And thanks for a great post to start the New Year. One of the reasons that I have not gotten into Niche Marketing is how to keep up with lots of sites. With this post and your answer to one of the comments, I have a beter understanding of how to maintain them. I agree with your comment that list building is “probably the single most important thing that you can do for your business in 2010″.
