This this post I want to share with you why it can be quite important to set up a new blog in a certain way in order to get the most out of it FOR YOUR OTHER WEB SITES.
**** Preamble
But before I go into that I need to ask you this: how many different web hosting accounts do you currently have?
If your answer to the above question is under 2, than please seriously consider what I have to say next.
Everything online can all be taken away in an instant… POOF it’s gone, without any notice and without any real reason or explanation. I’m talking about your own web content on your own sites, as well as content that you might have on other web sites like those free blogs or web2.0 sites.
What do you think would happen to your online business if all of a sudden you had no web presence? I think it could easily crumble, or at least set up back a lot if you had to re-upload all kinds of material (that is if you had it backed-up somewhere).
My point is that you really need to have your web sites and online business spread out on the Internet, on different servers/hosting accounts incase anything should happen to either one of them.
In terms of cost, go get two $20 a month hosting accounts, or even a $5 one if all you want is basic hosting and nothing else. But… why not get 3 or 4 hosting accounts? Keep reading to learn why that might not be such a bad idea.
**** Back to the main story
So what is it that I think you should do if you are setting up a new blog (or web site) that can benefit your other web sites?
Just to make it clear, I am not talking about how to properly configure your blog or how to code your web site. This tactic which can improve your other web sites is done BEFORE actually posting or installing anything on your site.
If you haven’t guessed it yet, this has to do with your web hosting account. Another good reason to have multiple hosting accounts is to set up your blog on a different hosting account other than what most of your sites are already on.
Search engines like backlinks to your site… that is no secret. But what search engines also like are backlinks from other web sites which are NOT YOUR OWN web sites, or at least NOT HOSTED ON THE SAME SERVER as the site it’s linking to.
Yes, the search engines are smart, very smart, they can tell where the link is coming from and if it may be from site on the same hosting server.
To make your backlinks go further, the next time you set up a new blog or web site, install it on a different server or even a totally different web host. This way you can link from that new site to your other sites and get more from your link.
**** To help you do what I talked about above
All you need is another web hosting account to get the most out of this. I currently have 3 (maybe 4) hosting accounts and I love all of their services, each one of them has been fantastic for me.
If you want just web hosting or a great price, use HostGator.
If you want to sell info products, have affiliates, and do anything an Internet marketer would want to do, get Ultimate Marketing Center.
If you want your own server or virtual server or need to run substantial scripts, then I would get HostICan.
Whatever your hosting needs are, one of those providers will be perfect for you. Just make sure to have multiple hosting accounts in case anything should happen, but also for the added benefit of better backlinks.

This is an online marketing blog dedicated to bringing you quality information that you can use to boost your profits and make the most out of your Internet business.
Very good point you have made here Joel,
You don’t hardly hear anything about this but you are absolutely right. I also have 3 hosting accounts and have my sites spread somewhat between them.
I honestly do need to do a better job as I do have the majority of sites hosted with HostGator though. Have gotten really use to their interface and can set something up so much quicker than with the other 2 I have.
I do have one question though. Do you know whether the ip address makes a difference? I do have multiple ip’s on some of my sites with HostGator. Was just wondering if that makes a difference.
Thanks!

Thanks for the comment Brett…
I do not study earch engine optimization full time, but yes, the main point to having different hosts for backlinks is because they use different IP addresses.
However, I have heard that just because maybe the last digit of the IP address might be different, that’s not enough. The search engines can tell if the address is from the same “group” of web sites/addresses. So you need a new group (or what I think it’s called is a subnet).
Great post Joel and something I do but don’t recommend often enough.

I had never really considered having more than one hosting account. You lay out some good reasons why having more than one is important. I think it might be something to consider and I will take a look at the host you have recommended. I too host most of my sites at host gator as I like the speed in which I can get my websites up after I change the DNS. Does not take very long at all.
Thanks Joel, this is a topic that I had not come across before and had not thought about. I’ve been wanting to move my sites from my current host because it does not use Fantastico and has limited number of WordPress blogs you can set up but after reading your post it makes sense to have more than 1 hosting account. The UMC you suggest looks very interesting. I’ll definetly consider your advice before setting up another site

Great suggestion. I haven’t really thought about it but makes perfect sense. I am in the process of moving my main site to UMC also.

Good points Joel. I have never thought of this before. I have all of my hosting with the same hosting company that allows unlimited websites. I never thought I would need another hosting company. After reading your post I am going to look into getting another one soon.
